Kidswrite Performance Festival

Last June, Burning Coal premiered four plays by local students in a professional production. The plays, Mixed Emotions by Andy Sherman (Broughton High School), The Constant Watch by Katharine McClintock (Ravenscroft), The New York Visit by Courtney Pisano and Memories of Daisy by Miranda Curtis (Ligon Middle School School) were selected from submissions from across Wake and surrounding counties, and were performed together by members of Burning Coal Theatre Company.

To encourage the young writers of North Carolina, Burning Coal is holding a festival of new plays, written by students from 6th grade to 12th grade. We will be accepting submissions of one-act plays from students and producing the best selections in June, 2010 at the Meymandi Theatre at the Murphey School. Please help us spread the word and help our next generation of writers!
