Kidswrite Performance Festival

In May 2010, Burning Coal will premier five plays by North Carolina students in a professional production. The plays, Blueberry Trinkets by Gina Lama (South Central High in Winterville), At Annie's House by Audrey Dubois (Lincoln Middle School), Feast by Mary Clare Mazzochi (Cardinal Gibbons High School), In the Beginning by Jackson Bloom (Enloe High School), and Stop/Loss by Elizabeth Huddleston (Raleigh Charter School) were selected from submissions from across Wake and surrounding counties, and were performed together by members of Burning Coal Theatre Company.

To encourage the young writers of North Carolina, Burning Coal will again hold a festival of new plays, written by students from 6th grade to 12th grade. We will be accepting submissions of one-act plays from students and producing the best selections in Spring 2011 at the Murphey School. Please help us spread the word and help our next generation of writers!
